The Genius of Sandro Botticelli
The exhibition "
" will soon be on show at the Victoria & Albert Museum from March 2016.
Interestingly, Sandro Botticelli's masterpieces were largely forgotten after his death; it was only in the Nineteenth Century, with the rise of the English Pre-Raphaelites, that his genius was rediscovered and he became celebrated as one of the most influential painters of the early Italian Renaissance.
The V&A's upcoming exhibition will showcase twenty examples of Botticelli’s work on display alongside one hundred artworks that show the Florentine painter's influence on future generations of artists, including several pieces that venerate him as an icon of pop art.
We presenta small selection of masterpieces from the akg-images archive to celebrate the talent of Sandro Botticelli.
