March 2015
On this month's newsletter we mark the seventieth anniversary of "Stunde Null", the "zero hour" on 8 May 1945 when the Second World War came to an end in Europe. Together with researchers in our Berlin head office we have curated selections on a number of key anniversaries, from surrender and liberation to the post-war reconstruction of Europe. We also highlight work by three key photographers of the end of the Second World War, one American, one Russian, one German and Jewish.

Away from the events of 1945, we look forward to a new film starring Helen Mirren and Ryan Reynolds centred around Gustav Klimt's most famous painting, we mark the 125th anniversary of the death of a penniless artist whose work now breaks auction house records, and we welcome in the first signs of spring with selections of art and black-and-white photographs filled with flowers and April showers.
