It was in reference to the Anemone coronaria that they invented the fable of the Anemone originating in the grief of Venus for the love of Adonis. The species inhabit the woods, thickets and mountains of the temperate regions. A. vitifolia was discovered by Dr. Hamilton Buchanan at Suemba in Upper Nepal, and also in the Himalayas.
